"One-Ball Rule" In Effect

NOTE! THE OPTIONAL CONDITIONS AS PRESCRIBED IN APPENDIX I, PART C-1(b) & (c) OF THE 2008-2009 USGA RULES OF GOLF BOOK SHALL BE IN EFFECT!

THE BALL A PLAYER USES SHALL BE NAMED ON THE CURRENT LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS ISSUED BY THE USGA.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE:    DISQUALIFICATION

 

THE SO-CALLED "ONE-BALL" RULE WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THE 2008 USGA U.S. JUNIOR (BOY'S) AMATEUR QUALIFYING.

DURING A STIPULATED ROUND, THE BALL(S) A PLAYER USES MUST BE OF THE SAME BRAND AND MODEL AS DETAILED BY A SINGLE ENTRY ON THE MOST CURRENT LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE:    2 (TWO) STROKES FOR EACH HOLE WHERE VIOLATION OCCURS. MAXIMUM PENALTY PER ROUND IS 4 (FOUR) STROKES.

2008 Competition Course

For the 2008 USGA U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Qualifying rounds at North Shore Country Club in Mequon, Wisconsin, the Blue nine & the Red nine will be used as the competition course.

The Blue nine will be the front nine (Holes #1-#9) and the Red nine will be the back nine (Holes #10-#18).

Caddie/Cart Information

Contestants in the 2008 USGA U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Qualifying MUST walk at all times during both of their stipulated rounds.

A player may provide his own caddie.   

***The caddie shall NOT be a parent, step parent, or guardian during Sectional Qualifying or the Championship proper.   A players caddie may use a cart, but the player MUST NOT sit or ride in the cart during either of the player's stroke play qualifying rounds.

Deadline for Entries

All entries for the 2008 USGA U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Championship MUST be received AT THE OFFICES OF THE USGA by no later than 5:00 P.M. EASTERN TIME (4:00 P.M. CENTRAL TIME) on Wednesday, JUNE 4, 2008 

Players wishing to enter the 2008 USGA U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Championship may do so by clicking on the section of this website entitled "Related Websites" and then clicking on "U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Championship Entry Blank."    Once there a player can either download a paper entry blank (which MUST be mailed to the USGA offices) OR may enter on-line using a major credit card as the form of payment.

Electronic Measuring Devices

The use of an ELECTRONIC MEASURING DEVICE is NOT permitted in ANY portion of ANY USGA Championship or Qualifying round.

Format of Competition

The format of this competition will be 36 holes (Two 18-Hole stipulated rounds) of Stroke Play at NORTH SHORE COUNTRY CLUB in Mequon, WI on the BLUE nine (front nine) & RED nine (back nine) on Monday June 23, 2008. 

The number of qualifying spots allocated to this qualifying site will be posted on this Tournament Information page when the USGA makes that information available.

A playoff to determine the final qualifying Spot(s) and/or alternate spot(s) will be held immediately upon completion of both 18-Hole Stroke Play qualifying rounds on a hole-by-hole basis.

Number of Qualifying Spots

The USGA has not yet established the number of qualifying spots allocated for the Wisconsin Sectional Qualifying for the 2008 USGA U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Qualifying at NORTH SHORE COUNTRY CLUB on Monday, June 23, 2008.

In additon to the qualifying spots, we will also determine at least 2 (Two) Alternates.

Practice Round Information

Contestants in the 2008 USGA U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Qualifying at NORTH SHORE COUNTRY CLUB in Mequon, WI should contact the pro shop at NORTH SHORE COUNTRY CLUB at (262) 242-7004 to make arrangements for a practice round. 

The ONLY day to play a practice round will be Tuesday, JUNE 17TH, 2008 AFTER 2:00 P.M. in the afternoon.   Only one and one-half hours of starting times will be available for contestants in the 2008 USGA U.S. Junior (Boy's) Amateur Qualifying at NORTH SHORE COUNTRY CLUB.    The cost of this practice round will be $40.00 for WALKING ONLY!   NO CARTS WILL BE PERMITTED.   Parents MAY caddie during the practice round, BUT MAY NOT PLAY!   Also,  per the USGA application, Parents may NOT caddie for the contestant during the actual qualifying competition.  CADDIES (DURING THE ACTUAL QUALIFYING COMPETITION, MUST NOT BE A PARENT,  STEP-PARENT OR GUARDIAN. 

NOTE:   Any fees for a practice round must be paid for by the contestants themselves.
