"One-Ball Rule" In Effect

NOTE! THE OPTIONAL CONDITIONS AS PRESCRIBED IN APPENDIX I, PART C-1(b) & (c) OF THE 2008-2009 USGA RULES OF GOLF BOOK SHALL BE IN EFFECT!

THE BALL A PLAYER USES SHALL BE NAMED ON THE CURRENT LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS ISSUED BY THE USGA.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE:    DISQUALIFICATION

 THE SO-CALLED "ONE-BALL" RULE WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THE 2008 USGA U.S. AMATEUR SECTIONAL QUALIFYING.

DURING A STIPULATED ROUND, THE BALL(S) A PLAYER USES MUST BE OF THE SAME BRAND AND MODEL AS DETAILED BY A SINGLE ENTRY ON THE MOST CURRENT LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE:    2 (TWO) STROKES FOR EACH HOLE WHERE VIOLATION OCCURS. MAXIMUM PENALTY PER ROUND IS 4 (FOUR) STROKES.

Caddie/Cart Information

PLAYERS MUST WALK AT ALL TIMES DURING THEIR EACH OF THEIR STIPULATED ROUNDS.    Players may carry their own clubs or bring their own caddie.    A golf cart may be used to carry clubs ONLY, AND a driver must be provided AND is considered to be the players caddie.    A player may not ride in cart once play has officially begun, or use it for surveying purposes.   A Cart is part of players equipment.

Players wishing to reserve a cart for their own caddie from WATERTOWN COUNTRY CLUB SHOULD CALL THE PRO SHOP AT 1-920-261-1375.

Those players, whose caddie would like to use a motorized cart should know that cart use on the course at WATERTOWN COUNTRY CLUB MAY BE restricted in the event weather conditions would cause such a limitation.

Championship Site for U.S. Am

The 2008 USGA U.S. Amateur Championship will be held August 18-24, 2008 at the famous Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina.   At Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, courses #2 and #4 will be used for the  2008 USGA U.S. Amateur Championship, with all matches being played on course #2.

Deadline for Entries

All entries for the 2008 USGA U.S. Amateur Championship MUST be received AT THE OFFICES OF THE USGA by no later than 5:00 P.M. EASTERN TIME (4:00 P.M. CENTRAL TIME) on Wednesday, JULY 2, 2008.  

Players wishing to enter the 2008 USGA U.S. Amateur Championship may do so by clicking on the section of this website entitled "Related Websites" and then clicking on "U.S. Amateur Championship Entry Blank."    Once there a player can either download a paper entry blank (which MUST be mailed to the USGA offices) OR may enter on-line using a major credit card as the form of payment.

Electronic Measuring Devices

The use of an ELECTRONIC MEASURING DEVICE is NOT permitted in ANY portion of ANY USGA Championship or Qualifying round.

Format of Competition

The format of this competition will be 36 holes (Two 18-Hole stipulated rounds) of Stroke Play at WATERTOWN COUNTRY CLUB.   The number of qualifying spots allocated to this qualifying site will be posted on this Tournament Information page when the USGA makes that information available.

A playoff to determine the final qualifying Spot(s) and/or alternate spot(s) will be held immediately upon completion of both 18-Hole Stroke Play qualifying rounds on a hole-by-hole basis.

Number of Qualifying Spots

The USGA will not have available the number of Qualifying Spots until after the entry deadline.

We will also determine at least 2 (Two) Alternates.

Practice Round Information

Contestants in the 2008 USGA U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying at Watertown CC should contact the pro shop at Watertown CC at 1-262-261-1375 to make arrangements for a practice round. 

NOTE:    Any fees for a practice round must be paid for by the contestants themselves.
