WSGA Net Partners Championship

During 2008 WSGA competitions, THE USE OF ELECTRONIC MEASURING DEVICES (EMD's) IS PERMITTED.  Electronic Measuring Devices (EMD's) include Hand-held devices, GPS-based systems, etc.

The Following LOCAL RULE will be in effect for all WSGA competitions, excluding USGA Qualifying events, during the 2008 season:

“In WSGA competitions for 2008, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.  However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.” 

The wording of this Local Rule means that a player may not use a device that is also capable of measuring conditions other than distance, even if those functions are “turned off” during a competition.

Furthermore, the WSGA will have in place, at every WSGA competition, excluding USGA Qualifying events, specially-equipped LASER LINK reflective Flagsticks which facilitate the measuring process.

To be eligible for the 2008 WSGA NET PARTNERS CHAMPIONSHIP, the two-person team MUST have QUALIFIED at one of the eight (8) 2008 WSGA Net Partners Tournament sites during the 2008 WSGA Tournament season. 

AGAIN FOR 2008>>>> The top seven teams, plus ties for 7th place, at each of the eight (8) 2008 WSGA Net Partners Tournaments will qualify for the 2008 WSGA NET PARTNERS CHAMPIONSHIP at Northern Bay Golf Resort & Marina on Friday, September 12th, 2008.

The field will close at 56 acceptable teams (112 players) or by 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 4, 2008. Late, incomplete or phone entries are not acceptable. FAX entries are acceptable ONLY if using a credit card as method of payment.

Entry forms for the 2008 WSGA NET PARTNERS CHAMPIONSHIP are given out to qualifying teams at the Net Partners Tournament at which they qualified.

The Entry Fee is $140.00 per qualifying team and INCLUDES the use of a motorized cart and lunch for each player.

The use of a Motorized Cart is MANDATORY for each team during the 2008 WSGA NET PARTNERS CHAMPIONSHIP.!

Competition will be 18 holes of partners net stroke play. A team (partners) will consist of two players, each of whom shall be a member of a WSGA member club and are 2008 WSGA Associate Members, which includes having a 2008 WSGA/USGA Handicap Index. The TEAM TOTAL SCORE for each team will be determined by adding each player's 18-hole net score plus the 18-hole net bestball score of the team, for a 54-Hole Total Team score. All Handicap Indexes will be adjusted according to the slope rating of the course being played. All men contestants will use the Regular tees and all women will use the Forward tees. Women players will receive extra strokes dependent on the course set-up, not to exceed 2 strokes, plus or minus the difference between the respective course ratings. Any play-off required to determine the champion will take place immediately on a hole-by-hole basis, combining the individual net scores, with strokes being given in accordance with the scorecard allocation. All other ties will be determined by a computer selected scorecard play-off method. In order to allow more players to participate a team may only participate in ONE event, unless the field for any event has not been filled.

The top SEVEN (7) teams from each of the eight 2008 WSGA Net Partners Tournaments will qualify for the 2008 WSGA Net Partners Championship on Friday, September 12, 2008 at NORTHERN BAY GOLF RESORT & MARINA in Arkdale, WI. 

Also, two alternate teams from each Net Partners Tournament will be placed on an ALTERNATE team list in case one of the teams that qualify from that Net Partners Tournament are unable to compete in the Net Partners Championship.

NOTE:   Players on teams that qualify for the 2008 WSGA Net Partners Championship will be required to have a minimum of 5 (five) scores played and posted in 2008 by Thursday, September 4th, 2008 in order to be eligible for the 2008 WSGA Net Partners Championship.

The cost of the motorized cart for each team IS INCLUDED in the entry fee. 

Players are NOT allowed to carry their own clubs.     CADDIES ARE NOT ALLOWED!

Pairings will be made by the WSGA Tournament Committee after the close of entries. Players will be notified of their Starting Time and Place by mail or E-mail, AND posted on our web site (www.wsga.org) on the 2008 WSGA Net Partners Championship Tournament Information Page.

THE COMPETITION WILL FEATURE A SHOTGUN START AT APPROXIMATELY 8:00 A.M. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th, 2008.

There will be NO OFFICIAL PRACTICE ROUND.    Arrangements for a practice round may be made by calling the golf shop at NORTHERN BAY GOLF RESORT & MARINA at 1-608-339-2090.

NOTE:   Contestants are responsible for their own practice round fees.
