WSGA 2-Man Team Championship

All contestants are invited to attend a Contestant’s dinner at the NORTHERN BAY GOLF RESORT & MARINA on Sunday evening at approximately 7:00 P.M.

Entry fee includes the Contestants dinner and hors d’ oeuvres at approximately 6:00 P.M.

During 2008 WSGA competitions, THE USE OF ELECTRONIC MEASURING DEVICES (EMD's) IS PERMITTED.  Electronic Measuring Devices (EMD's) include Hand-held devices, GPS-based systems, etc.

The Following LOCAL RULE will be in effect for all WSGA competitions, excluding USGA Qualifying events, during the 2008 season:

“In WSGA competitions for 2008, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.  However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.” 

The wording of this Local Rule means that a player may not use a device that is also capable of measuring conditions other than distance, even if those functions are “turned off” during a competition.

Furthermore, the WSGA will have in place, at every WSGA competition, excluding USGA Qualifying events, specially-equipped LASER LINK reflective Flagsticks which facilitate the measuring process.

Entries are open to all amateur male golfers who attained age 19 by September 14th, 2008, are affiliated with a WSGA member club, which is interpreted to mean - a team member must be eligible to participate in a member club or golf course's Championship events.      Team members are NOT required to be from the same club but must have a MAXIMUM combined WSGA/USGA HANDICAP INDEX OF 12.0.     All handicaps will be verified by the WSGA, and the date of the eligibility requirement will be August 29th, 2008.

The field will close at 60 acceptable team entries or by 5:00 P.M., on Friday, August 29th, 2008. Late, incomplete or phone entries are not acceptable. FAX entries are acceptable ONLY if using a credit card as method of payment.

Priority will be given to Rated Players using the 2007 WSGA Men’s Amateur and Senior Amateur “Player of the Year” Rating list. Remaining openings will be filled on a lottery basis if the field is over-subscribed.

NOTE: All Rated Players must submit their entry by Friday, August 22nd, 2008 in order to receive priority.

Entry fee is $340.00 per team and must accompany entry blank. Checks or Credit Cards are accepted.

NOTE: Entry fee includes cart fees for three rounds, Sunday evening dinner and hors d'oeuvres, and box lunch on Monday.   Contestants dinner on Sunday evening will be at approximately 7:00 P.M.

Competition will be 18 holes bestball (Four-ball) on Sunday afternoon, 18 holes alternate shot (Foursomes) on Monday morning and gross score (Individual Stroke Play) for each team member on Monday afternoon. This will give a 72-hole score for each team. The winning team will be the team with the lowest score for the combined four 18 hole scores.

A Sunday P.M. shotgun start at approximately 1:00 P.M. with a Monday A.M. shotgun start at approximately 8:30 A.M. and Monday P.M. shotgun start at approximately 12:30 P.M. Any play-off required to determine the champions will take place immediately upon completion of the final round on a hole-by-hole basis. All other ties will be broken by a computer scorecard play-off.

Hotel Information regarding the 2008 WSGA TWO-MAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP at NORTHERN BAY GOLF RESORT & MARINA:

A motorized golf cart MUST be used for the tournament. Entry fee includes the cost of a motorized cart for both days.

THE USE OF A CADDIE OR CARRYING ONE'S OWN CLUBS IS NOT PERMITTED.

1st ROUND Pairings will be made by the WSGA and players notified of their starting times and places by mail or e-mail, and posted on our web site (www.wsga.org) on the 2008 WSGA Two-Man Team Championship Tournament Information Page.

Teams will be RE-PAIRED for the second and third round based upon first round Bestball score.

There will be NO OFFICIAL PRACTICE ROUND.    To inquire about making arrangements for a practice round, call the golf shop at NORTHERN BAY GOLF RESORT & MARINA at 1-608-339-2090.

NOTE:   Contestants are responsible for their own practice round fees.

Winning team with the lowest combined gross score will have their names engraved upon the Wisconsin 2-Man Team trophy. Prizes will be presented to top finishing teams at the AWARDS CEREMONY AFTER THE FINAL ROUND.
